What’s the Difference Between ACM and Aluminum?

Aluminum and Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) are often mentioned in the same breath, especially in construction, signage, and architectural design. While they share a common base element, their structure, properties, and applications differ in important ways. Aluminum

At its core, aluminum is a pure metal known for being lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and highly versatile. Other Considerations

Fire resistance is another important consideration. Standard ACM panels with polyethylene cores can be flammable, which has led to stricter regulations in many regions. Fire-retardant ACM options are available, but they may come at a higher cost. Solid aluminum, by contrast, is non-combustible, making it a safer choice in fire-sensitive environments.

Cost is often a deciding factor. ACM is generally more cost-effective for large surface applications because it uses less aluminum overall. Its ease of installation can also reduce labor costs. Solid aluminum tends to be more expensive, particularly for thicker sheets required in structural roles.
